From the 11th August to 15th August, AIESEC in Malaysia brings its annual Malaysia Leadership Development Seminar (MyLDS) virtual for the second time. The national AIESEC membership experienced an eventful agenda to introduce the next generation of AIESEC leaders, develop youth leadership skills with partners, and brand the organisation’s stance as a strong youth leadership development platform.

The 380 delegates were exposed to opportunities provided by AIESEC in Malaysia’s keynote partners, L’Oréal Malaysia and DHL Express Malaysia. The partnership was formed with L’Oréal and DHL Express to introduce AIESEC’s young leaders towards qualities the industry looks for in young leaders. It was also an opportunity for youths to learn how the companies adapted to digitalisation for their sustainability through the pandemic.

Both companies share the same vision with AIESEC in Malaysia to develop leaders from all levels through experiential learning. Human Resources Director of L’Oréal Malaysia, Shazli Ghani, shared, “The youths can innovate and create beyond our imagination, and it is only rightful this creativity can be used in a leadership experience.” A whitepaper report from the Association of Talent Development in the United States revealed that at least 83% of businesses agree that leadership needs to be developed at all levels. AIESEC in Malaysia believes that leadership is a skill that can be developed in every individual and seeks to continue this mission of onboarding youths with our values and purpose.

The involvement of partners like L’Oréal and DHL builds a strong branding presence among the 380 delegates, and like-minded partners are vital as they play an active role in developing the leadership calibre of the youth in MyLDS. In the seminar, youths were also introduced to AIESEC’s latest refresh on the organisation’s direction for the coming year. Low Ler Min, President of AIESEC in Malaysia, announced that “AIESEC in Malaysia will continue our journey in ensuring our membership takes ownership of their leadership development and empower more youths to become purposeful leaders of today.”

AIESEC in Malaysia anticipates more engagement and collaboration with like-minded partners like L’Oréal and DHL and appreciates the representatives from the companies for their witness of the AIESEC membership’s growth and development. By being part and parcel of AIESEC’s growth and journey towards the organisation’s vision of youth leadership development, we aspire to build a generation of purposeful leaders that will amplify the impacts we wish to see in the country and the youth.
